Continued strong growth in containers motivated ADP management to purchase another large mobile harbour crane to add to their existing fleet, complete with a Bromma twin lift spreader. 125 ton capacity

The new 125 ton GHMK 6507 crane will mainly operate on the port’s container terminal.

It will be connected to the 10 KV external power supply and operate alongside the GHMK 6507, which was delivered in 2012.

Electric Power Supply pays off

Main crane functions of all Gottwald mobile harbour cranes are always of proven and energy efficient diesel-electric design, saving 30% on diesel oil consumption, compared with diesel hydraulic designs.

External power connections are popular in all Nordic countries and Port-Trade has retro fitted several external power connections to existing cranes, mostly using 10-11 kV supply.

Experience in Fredericia and elsewhere confirm that the external power supply connection reduces energy consumption by another 30%, saving hard cash on fuel and maintenance and at the same time protecting the environment by reducing noise, exhaust fumes and CO2. Technical developments reduced maintenance costs

For the hoisting and slewing motions, the new crane has frequency controlled AC motors that replace the traditional DC drives. The new, standard AC drives, provide gentle power dependent start-up and reduced maintenance costs (no coal brushes). Having many years of practical experience, ADP’s competent staff has contributed with several practical ideas for technical improvements in various areas. Several were implemented in collaboration.

6 TEREX Gottwald cranes in operation

Until now, ADP has purchased 8 Terex Gottwald mobile harbour cranes of which 6 are operational in Fredericia and Nyborg. One older crane was sold off to Montenegro through Port-Trade and another was sold to Norway.
Three model 6 cranes will be operating in Fredericia, together with a Gottwald HMK 280 E which is mainly used for general cargo and bulk handling with motorgrab.
A 100 ton capacity Gottwald HMK 260 E has been moved with a Ro-Ro vessel from Fredericia to ADP’s Nyborg Terminal, where it has joined another Gottwald HMK 260 E, to meet increasing activity there.
